The microphone makes use of an omnidirectional pickup pattern that captures sound from every direction, allowing for freedom of movement, even when the subject turns away from the mic. The included alligator-style mic clip holds the mic firmly in place on clothing. The 6.5' cable provides plenty of length for standing at an optimal distance in front of your camera. The mic is powered via your iOS device, so you don't have to remember to change a battery, and a foam windscreen is included, to protect against outside wind noise.
